Welcome!
Welcome to the homepage of the Electronic Structure Theory Group in the Laboratory of Theoretical Chemistry at Kyoto University. About a hundred years have passed since the birth of quantum mechanics. By gaining a precise “language” to describe phenomena, chemists can, in principle, treat the properties and reactions of molecules as clearly defined problems, on the same footing as questions in physics and mathematics. In practice, however, the number of problems we can truly claim to have “solved” is still limited. Our group aims to develop new electronic structure theories that describe chemical phenomena as accurately and efficiently as possible within the computational resources available at any given time, while always keeping chemical insight at the core of our work.
"If you want to go fast, go ALONE.
If you want to go far, go TOGETHER."
